For those who don't know what I am talking about (Follow me through Facebook to know a lot more!) I am making an Indie Guide A-Z!

This will be a huge project and a enormous pleasure to do! So .. what am I going to do?

Everyday, I'm going to show you a different brand of Indie Nail Polishes (and some of their major stockists too!! )

Para quem não sabe do que eu estou a falar ( basta seguirem-me também no Facebook para saberem as novidades em primeira mão ) estou a fazer um Guia de Vernizes Indie.
Este é um projecto enorme e muito trabalhoso que tenho imenso prazer de partilhar convosco!
Então, o que é que vou fazer? Todos os dias, vou-vos mostrar uma marca diferente de vernizes indies com entrevistas com as meninas ( e meninos) que os fazem! Além disso, tambem vos vou trazer entrevistas com as majores lojas onde eles se vendem!

Interview with Tanya, from TreasuresByTan

Your Name: Tanya Bender

Brand Name: TreasuresByTan

Where are you from? United States

When have you started? I opened my shop about 1 ½ yrs ago but the polish was just added in July 2012.

Is there a story behind the name of your brand? The name of my shop is very special to me. I chose “Treasures” because I sell many different things; jewelry, crafts, home decor, nail polish, etc. and “Tan” is not only the beginning of my name (Tanya) but also the first initial of all my children in birth order; Tyler, Alyssa, and Noah. I am hoping to one day be able to turn my online shop into a “real” shop that I can pass on to my children and they can continue to keep it up and running.

How many polishes/collections have you created? I currently have around 40-50 polishes, most of them just randoms. I have one “collection”, and that is my new winter collection.

Is there a special polish/collection? Why? The polish that is VERY special to me is my “Star Light Star Bright Wishin’ For A Cure Tonight!” My 12 yr old son has been a diabetic since the age of 22 months old and this polish was created to raise money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) in his honor. He also helped with the concept and the name for this polish. This is very near and dear to my heart because together we created something that will help not only him, but many other children suffering with the same disease.

Where you a polish addicted before starting making polishes? I have always loved polish and trying new and different things with my nails, but I think once I started creating my own I have now become obsessed lol

Did you have a blog before making polishes or have you started one after? I don’t have a blog and really have no desire to start one. Don’t get me wrong, blogs are great but all my extra time goes into my shop and of course my children.

Whats your favorite thing about making polishes? I love hearing, seeing, or reading the reaction that someone has after seeing or trying my polishes. It’s a good feeling when you know all your hard work is being appreciated and people are loving your creations. Keeps the drive in me to continue doing what I’m doing!

Can you tell us a curious thing that has happened to you with some client or something funny? My mom works at one of my favorite craft stores so a few days ago I was making my normal weekly rounds and she was working that day. When I got to her department she had a group of women gathered around her, other workers and customers, and she was showing off her new manicure she had done using one of my new polishes. I thought that it was pretty funny because she had all these women flocked around her and when she saw me she pointed and said “and there is the creator” and it was like I was famous or something the way they all came at me lol. I have to say that my mom has been my biggest supporter since I have started creating my polishes.

Is there anything you'd Like to share: I truly enjoy doing what I do!

Estou muito muito contente por ter conhecido a Tânia. Uma grande mulher e profissional fabulosa. Fiz um post com ela há uns dias, sobre a doença do filho e o verniz que criou para ajudar no combate à doença dele. Podem ver tudo aqui.
